Volunteer with The Underdog Division
Every Hand Helps an Underdog Rise.
Ready to Lend a Hand?
You don’t need professional training experience to change a life — just commitment, empathy, and a willingness to help. Volunteers keep this mission alive, one task at a time.
Join us in creating a future where every Underdog gets the chance to rise above their past.
Based in Poolesville, Maryland, we welcome volunteers from Montgomery County, Loudoun County, and Fairfax County.
The Underdog Division, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Volunteers are the lifeblood of our work, and all opportunities are designed to promote safety, growth, and compassion for both people and animals.

Why Volunteers Matter
Behind every rescue success story is a community of people who made it possible. Volunteers are the heart of The Underdog Division — compassionate, reliable individuals who give their time, energy, and skills to help dogs rebuild their confidence and find loving homes.
Whether it’s walking dogs, helping at events, transporting animals, or supporting administrative work, every contribution directly impacts the lives of dogs rescued.
Your involvement allows us to expand our reach and give more Underdogs the second chance they deserve.

What It Means to Volunteer
When you join our volunteer team, you become part of a mission-driven community built on compassion, teamwork, and accountability. Volunteers assist with daily care and enrichment at our Poolesville facility, help transport dogs to veterinary appointments and training sessions, and represent The Underdog Division at community adoption events.
Others lend their skills behind the scenes — supporting outreach, photography, communications, or recordkeeping.
Whether you prefer hands-on animal care or strategic support roles, your unique talents will find purpose here.

How We Support You
We value our volunteers as partners in this mission and ensure you’re equipped for success.
Every volunteer receives orientation, safety training, and ongoing guidance from our leadership and trainer network.
We provide the tools, mentorship, and structure you need to make an impact confidently and safely.
You’ll never be left guessing — we operate as one unified team where communication and care come first.

The Volunteer Experience
Volunteering with The Underdog Division isn’t just about helping animals — it’s about becoming part of a movement.
You’ll work alongside passionate trainers, rescuers, and advocates who share your dedication to creating lasting change for dogs and their future families.
The relationships you build here — with both people and animals — are deeply rewarding.
Every moment spent walking a nervous dog, every conversation at an event, and every mile driven for a rescue transport adds up to something powerful: transformation through teamwork.
